Where Law Meets Strategy

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What types of clients do you work with?
We primarily work with entrepreneurs, operators, and investors in the cannabis industry, as well as individuals or organizations engaged in policy advocacy. Our clients range from startup dispensary owners to multi-state operators (MSOs), craft growers, brand developers, and those seeking lobbying support.

2. What happens during the intake meeting?
The intake meeting is the first and most important step in our process. It allows our attorneys, consultants, and staff to understand your goals, assess your legal or business needs, and propose specific services.
It also gives you a chance to learn more about how we work and what you can expect. A successful intake usually leads to a formal engagement.

3. Is there a cost for the intake meeting?
Some intake meetings are complimentary, depending on the type of service you are seeking. For more complex matters or consulting-heavy evaluations, a fee may apply. We will always let you know in advance if there is a charge.

4. What is a "success fee" client?
“Success fee” clients typically engage us to facilitate a business deal — such as the sale or acquisition of a cannabis license or operation. These clients only pay a fee if a deal is closed based on introductions or connections we facilitated.
We also structure these agreements to clearly define what constitutes a successful outcome.

5. Do you represent both buyers and sellers?
Yes. We work with both buyers and sellers in cannabis-related transactions, but we ensure that conflicts of interest are disclosed and managed ethically. In most cases, we only represent one party per transaction.

6. What does your lobbying work involve?
We help clients shape public policy by providing direct access to decision-makers, developing strategy, scheduling meetings, and executing follow-ups. We ask every lobbying client three key questions:

  • Who do you want to influence?
  • What do you want them to do?
  • What would success look like?

From there, we build a campaign around those answers.

7. How do I know if I need lobbying or legal services?
You don’t need to figure that out alone. During the intake process, we will help assess whether your situation requires legal work (e.g., contracts, transactions, compliance), lobbying, or consulting — or a combination of these.

8. What types of consulting do you offer?
Our consulting services focus on strategic planning, regulatory navigation, and business development for cannabis industry clients. We help you launch, scale, or reposition your business with a clear and compliant path forward.

9. How quickly can we get started after intake?
If we’re a good fit and agree to move forward, we aim to begin work as soon as engagement documents are signed. In urgent cases, we can often start within 24–48 hours.

10. Who will I be working with?
