Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth Introduces Legislation to protect Immigrant Veterans
In a move that demonstrates the effectiveness of the Shiller Preyar strategy to not only use the law to defend our clients, but also community and political support, U.S. Senators Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) have introduced legislation on the Senate floor that would protect immigrants who are veterans of the U.S. military from losing their healthcare or facing deportation.
This legislation could have implications for the case of Miguel Perez Jr., a client of Shiller Preyar Lead Immigration Attorney Christopher Bergin, who is facing deportation for a felony drug conviction. Perez is a decorated Army veteran who has resided in the United States for 30 years.
Shiller Preyar applauds Senators Duckworth and Cortez Masto for their work protecting immigrants in the United States.
