Barbara joined the Shiller Preyar Law Offices in May of 2010.
Her practice focuses primarily on police misconduct civil rights litigation, including cases involving police brutality, illegal search and seizure, and unlawful arrest. Barbara has also litigated several cases involving excessive force at the Cook County Jail, represented criminal defendants, and negotiated and litigated personal injury claims.

Prior to joining the firm, Barbara gained experience in employee benefits and social security law, and civil rights litigation as part of the Civil Rights Center.
Barbara received her B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from Beloit College in 2001. She obtained her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2006, where she competed in three appellate advocacy competitions as part of Chicago-Kent’s Moot Court Honor Society. While in law school Barbara worked as a paralegal and externed with the Illinois Attorney General of Illinois’ Criminal Appeals Division, and published a law review article regarding the standard of review in ERISA cases for Chicago-Kent’s online law journal.
In her spare time, Barbara enjoys singing with the Chicago Bar Association chorus, cycling, playing Scrabble, and participating in Chicago’s lively arts and music scene.
